“Don’t eat the raw cake batter!” This phrase reminds me of being a little girl, which has inspired this recent body of work. By working around the themes of kitchen and baking I have tried to recreate a feeling of nostalgia and the relationship I had with my granny. The work could be seen as a memorial of the time spent cooking and baking with her.

The use of charcoal allows me to create this mood as well as the process of adding and removing charcoal which enhances the composition of my drawings. The large-scale drawings provide a testimony to the importance of our relationship.
