Holly Brown

It’s a bowl. An object that has been part of our lives since the Neolithic era, when people first began making receptacles by hollowing out wood and stone or molding and baking clay.  Commonplace and familiar, the bowl can range from being practical to decorative, functional to conceptual. I use the bowl as a platform to explore the middle ground as I wish to accomplish all these qualities within my work. Creating an object that is familiar I attempt to introduce the overlooked, exploring ideas about engagement and interaction between people and the world; community and communication. It’s a bowl, an object for you to enjoy.
