Mickey O’Hanlon

This work began with an exploration into my interest in carrying a child as a man.

After being exposed to different kinds of negative internal growth I became attracted to the positive growth that females get to experience.

This evolved into a fascination with the juxtaposition of growing life and growing death and how people react to each individually.

The foetus bringing potential life and several variants bringing potential death.

I produce sculptural works with a range of materials including wax, metal, wood and more recently video and installation. The properties of these play an important role in their meaning.
