A passion for flowers and a fascination for the history of the Silk Road have led me to my present work.  Along the Silk Road, bulbs in their dormant state were transported, together with the bales of silk from the East, to Europe during the Renaissance.  Lilies, fritillaries, hyacinths, anemones, crocuses, iris, tulips, chinodoxa, scilla, allium, fritillaria meleagris, eremurus lily.  These rather uninteresting bulbs, once planted, burst into exotic flowers.  Capturing this is the focus for my work on paper through the use of graphite, coloured pencils, inks, watercolours and print.
